Former Purdue forward Caleb Swanigan has died at the age of 25. The Allen County Coroner's Office has confirmed that Swanigan died of natural causes.

Head coach Matt Painter said in a press release on Tuesday morning that the Purdue basketball family is deeply saddened and devastated by the loss of Caleb Swanigan.

Caleb was a very thoughtful man and a gentle soul who excelled both in court and outside. He has brought a huge change in everyone’s life that he has touched and he will miss so much.

Swanigan was nominated for the 2017 Big Ten Player of the Year and Wooden Award, the national award for best college basketball player.

He set out for the NBA Draft in 2017 and was selected 26th overall by the Portland Trailblazers.
