Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, 73, has been hospitalized with the infection since Friday and is expected to be released in the next few days, according to the court.

Thomas was admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., on Friday evening after experiencing "flu-like symptoms," the Supreme Court said in a statement Sunday evening.

"He has been diagnosed with an infection and is being treated with intravenous antibiotics.

Her symptoms are subsiding, she is resting comfortably, and she is expected to be released from the hospital in a couple of days, "read the court statement.

The court did not say why the news was delayed for two days. As NPR Tottenberg of the NPR reports, the health of Supreme Court judges is often shrouded in mystery.
