Queen Elizabeth II has died at the age of 96 at her Balmoral estate in Scotland, Buckingham Palace said Thursday.

She served as constitutional monarch of the United Kingdom for 70 years, making him the longest-reigning monarch in British history.

The Queen was extremely popular, even among Britons who were not fond of the monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth is the only monarch most Britons know.

Bradford believes history will place him alongside Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria among the country's great sovereigns.

At 96, Elizabeth has served longer than any other British monarch and is the second longest-reigning monarch in history.
